What's the difference between a ';hang out'; and a date? How can you tell?

I've been spending time with a few guy friends one on one, and I can't really tell if they ask me out on dates, or if they just want to hang out with me.


We hug but never anything more than that. It's not like they pay for stuff that I get, we just spend time together. How often does a guy ask a girl to hang out with him for non-date purposes? How do I tell the difference?What's the difference between a ';hang out'; and a date? How can you tell?

1. He really likes you and he is a pussy. Maybe he is scared of rejection and thats why he doesnt specifically say its a date? Never really understood that. I mean I am the type of guy that is blunt, and goes after what he wants.





2. He just wants to be friends. Although, most the guys that hang out with girls one on one or a group of girls are extremely feminine (not always gay though). So if he doesn't act feminine or seem like the type of guy that has a lot of close friends that are girls, then thats a good sign. Typically a masculine straight male doesn't keep friends like that for long





3. He likes you and he knows his game well. Just the fact that he has compelled you to post here asking a question about him obviously says something about his skillz.What's the difference between a ';hang out'; and a date? How can you tell?
i think a date typically comes with being in a relationship with someone. if you're not ';dating'; this guy you're probably not going on dates with him. does that make sense? haha. for now you guys are just hanging out. i hang out with my guy friends one on one all the time. we never feel like they're dates. but why does that matter! as long as you're happy being with him you don't need a title for whatever you guys are doing. :)
You can't really tell unless they make it obvious.





Just try to notice the things they do when you guys aren't hanging out one on one.





Although, easier way is to ask them straight up.

When you hang out its usually more casual where u spend time together as friends a date is bit more intimate like going to the movies or a resturant and getting to know each other.
